The majority of outdoor lighting systems feature a timer found inside the lighting transformer. Based on the size of the system, it’s important to remember that you may need to adjust several transformers at this time.
To adjust your settings, open up the transformer and locate the timer plugged in on the inside. It’s possible that it will be easier to adjust the settings and time when your outdoor lighting timer is unplugged.
Typically, timers will feature either green or red clips or be a push-in style. With push-in style timers, you simply need to push the tabs in or pull them to adjust the timing of the lights. Check to see what is pushed in to start with based on your timer style, making your adjustments as needed.
If green and red clips are used, you must rely on these elements to set the “on” and “off” timer. The green clip will show you what time the lights will come on. The red clip indicates what time the lights will shut off. Either slide the clips out or push them in at the exact times you wish the lights to turn on and off.
How To Set The Time For Outdoor Lights
With both timer styles referenced above, setting the time of the day will essentially involve the same process. You need to turn the dial until the arrow lines up with your desired time of day. The light timers will rotate clockwise to set, while also running this way. When setting the time, you’ll want to make sure you to adjust for AM or PM.
After you have finished setting the on and off times, plug your timer back into the lighting transformer. If you unplugged the transformer cord from the timer, make sure to plug it back in.
Once these simple steps have been completed, you can close the transformer. Your outdoor lighting system will now properly turn on and off at the times you have set.
